Started:
Once in a French lesson, he got a task to analyze a certain magazine or newspaper. Martin and his group got a climbing magazine. As he opened it and saw the first picture, he told himself - you will do this too! But he had to wait other 6 years, till he heard about a climbing gym near to his living place and there he started.

Preferred climbs:
Overhanged boulders, most of all sandstone, his favourite climbing area is Fontainebleau, which is not that far away from his home. He likes technical, fine lines, tricky moves. He does not care much about classification, though he was of course happy for his first 8a.

From his climbing achievements he appreciates most:
Maybe his first 8a, which he tried a whole week, day by day until he sent it.

Training:
Mainly bouldering 5 - 6x /week in Trier and Mainz boulderhalls, no systematic training plan.

Diet:
Martin does not think much about his diet, he eats, what he likes and what is tasty.

Future plans:
To continue successfully in his studies and to find some time for traveling by that.

Martin Mayer about climbing:
"Traveling is what I like most on climbing. And meeting new people, who are the same nature as I am. No other sport can offer me anything comparable to one day spent with my friends in rocks."
