Climbing since: spring 2003

Started:
He started to climb and "grew up" in a climbing gym. From the very beginning, climbing was just a supplementary sport to his hockey career. After 9 years, he quitted hockey and since that time he has been fully focusing on sport climbing and competitions. Motive? "One has always something to achieve and improve. When the weather is nice, you can go to climb out on, have fun and relax. Just like no other sport."
Preferred climbs:
Boulder routes, heavy boulder problems. Nothing too high and nothing too long.

From his climbing achievements, he appreciates most:
Defending the first place in Czech boulder cup, first place in Monsters 6, Rainbow Rocket 8A boulder in Fontainebleau, Komba 8A in Mlynsky vrch (CZ) and Detonace 8A in Skrovad (CZ).

Competitions:
He competes every year in Czech boulder cup.

Training:
Approx. 4x a week bouldering in a gym. As he is attending the university in Brno, you can meet him in local boulder gyms: Vertical, Fritak or FlashBoulderBar. He also spends a lot of time on his own wall at home.

Diet:
He holds his constant weight of 74 kg five years now and eats what his body requires. No special diet.

Future plans:
To be every year better than the last year.

Honza Chvala about climbing:
"Climbing gives me a great feeling and motivation not to stay at the same level, but to improve myself constantly. This is a piece of my life. To get good results and go far in climbing needs a talent or a strong will. Of course, the best is to have both - talent and will. Everything can be trained, but if it is not natural, it will be more difficult. Climbing becomes more and more popular, so it is not easy to get on. And material and financial support can help a lot."
