Born: 1973
Lives: Prague, Czech Republic
Climbing since: 1989
Started:
As a child, he wanted to become a member of mountain rescue service. One of the admission requirements was basic knowledge of climbing and belaying, so Andrej started his climbing career. He has not entered the mountain rescue till now, but there is no doubt he is a first-class climber.
Preferred climbs:
Absolutely climbing on the rocks, the material is not important, but the sandstone leads.
From his climbing achievements he appreciates most:
We did not get much from Andrej. He climbed too hard and too much, so he is not able to think about it this way. So just to complement his modest statement, he managed to send many hard routes and boulders including 8A/A+ Fb, 8b/b+ sport routes or XIa/b sandstone traditional ascents.
Training:
Andrej used to focus on complex training, now it is only climbing and sometimes a little of yoga exercises.
Diet:
Andrej argues that he goes to the pub from rocks on foot, so he keeps his fitness.
Future plans:
To climb as long as possible and as long as it will be fun.
Climbing equipment:
Climbing shoes Ozone QC (Rock Pillars), harness Mojave (Ocun)
Andrej about climbing:
"Climbing is a particular world, small but real, with its own philosophy of freedom and independence, where you cannot do without responsibility. It is tremendous versatility in there. Climbing means everything to me - work, fun and a way of relaxation. What helps the climbers to their good performance? To be really good, you must want to be the best and need to be obstinate, a little lucky and to have a grain of talent."
Hobbies and interests besides climbing:
Family, work.
