World Championship 2007 in Aviles

Climbing World Championship 2007 took place in Spanish town Aviles and integral members of Czech National Climbing Team are ours Tomáš Mrázek and Helena Lipenská (Ocún/Rock Pillars).

Tomáš as defending champion from years 2003 and 2005 belonged definitely among hot favourits in lead. Besides lead competition he took part in bouldering comp as well. In bouldering he had bad luck and because of too many attempts for topping 6th boulder he finished 33rd. In lead he showed excellent performance and made the final route only a few holds below the top. Better were just two climbers, both Spanians, Patxi Usobiaga (2) and Ramon Julian Puigblanque (1), thus Tomáš grabbed bronze. Helena took part only in bouldering comp and finished 35th. According to her report she felt sick and totally out of shape. An outstanding achievement is Martin Stráník´s (CZ) 2nd place in bouldering. He lost the gold due to one more attempt for topping last boulder...
